Terms of use
The ground rules, kept short.
What you can expect from Kanakkedu, and what we ask of you. Version 2026-10, last updated 16 October 2026.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [legal name of the business], [registered address], India ("we", "us"), for using Kanakkedu at web.kanakkedu.online and this website. By creating an account you accept them and our Privacy policy. The version you accepted and the date are recorded in your account.
The pilot
- Kanakkedu is in a pilot. It is free while the pilot lasts.
- We may add, change or remove features as we learn. We will tell you in the app before any change that affects your data.
- If we introduce paid plans later, we will tell you well in advance. Nothing will be charged without your clear agreement, and you can always download your data and leave.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older, and give your real name and an email address you use. A child under 18 may use Kanakkedu only with a parent's or guardian's agreement and supervision (for example, a pocket-money book shared by the parent).
- Keep your password, authenticator, recovery codes and Kanakkedu PIN to yourself. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Tell us at once at support@kanakkedu.online if you think someone else has used it.
- Kanakkedu staff will never ask for your password, PIN, authenticator codes, recovery codes or bank account numbers.
What Kanakkedu is, and is not
- Kanakkedu records what you enter. It does not connect to your bank, move money, make payments or hold funds.
- Totals, "safe to spend", summaries, receipt scanning, smart rules and the financial-year view are aids. Check them; they can be wrong if the entries are.
- Nothing in Kanakkedu is financial, investment, tax or legal advice. The financial-year summary does not calculate tax or file returns.
Your data
- Your books, entries and receipts belong to you. You allow us to store and process them only to run Kanakkedu for you.
- You can download all of it at any time (Profile → Storage → Download all my data), export books, or download a full backup.
- How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy policy.
Storage
- Each account includes 10 GB for receipts and saved backups. Entries, books and everything else do not count.
- At 80% and 95% we let you know. When it is full, new receipts and new saved backups stop until you free space; nothing you already saved is removed.
- Need more? Ask from Help & support.
Sharing and trusted contacts
- When you share a book, the people you choose can see it at the level you choose. You decide who to share with, and can remove them at any time.
- If you name a trusted contact, they may receive view-only access to the Spend Books you chose after the inactivity period you set and a 7-day notice to you. Signing in cancels it.
- A parent who shares a pocket-money book with a child's account is responsible for that use.
Fair use
Do not use Kanakkedu to break the law, to store other people's data without their permission, to upload malware, or to try to get into accounts or systems that are not yours. Do not overload the service or use automated sign-ups. We may suspend accounts that do, and will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
Found a security problem? Please tell us at security@kanakkedu.online (see Security).
Availability and backups
We work to keep Kanakkedu available and your data safe, with encrypted storage in India and regular backups. Sometimes it may be unavailable, for example during maintenance, which we announce in the app when we can. Please keep your own copies of anything important: download a backup or your data from time to time.
Ending your account
- You can delete your account from Profile at any time. You have 30 days to change your mind, then everything is permanently deleted.
- We may close accounts that break these terms. If we ever end the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice so you can download your data.
Liability
Kanakkedu is provided with care but "as is" during the pilot. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, or for decisions you make based on your records. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Indian consumer law that cannot be limited.
Changes, law and contact
Version 2026-10, last updated 16 October 2026. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will ask you to accept the new version in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at [city] have jurisdiction. Questions: support@kanakkedu.online.
